Colloquium on “Future Directions in French Polar Pollution Research"

14-15 oct. 2019
Espace Duranti - Salle Osète 6 Rue du Lieutenant Colonel Pélissier, 31000 Toulouse - Toulouse (Francia)

The aim of the meeting is to summarize and highlight recent and on-going research on the topic of pollution in Polar Regions (Arctic and Antarctic). The meeting is open to a wide community and will cover the topics identified in the French deliverable to the second Arctic Science Ministerial. It includes presentation of key results coming out of projects which have been supported by the Chantier Arctique français (PARCS) and MITI of CNRS (Changes in Siberia) as well as results from other projects, for example, focusing on health impacts of contaminants in Polar fauna or new issues such as micro-plastics or wintertime pollution. The meeting includes sessions on Pollutants and Climate, Pollutants and Biogeochemistry, Ecosystems & Society, and Pollutants in Antarctica (presentations and posters) and discussion sessions/round table(s) on future directions. The latter includes an open discussion about the future format, contours and organization of French research on Arctic and Antarctic pollution as well as opportunities for funding, new collaborations and contributions at national and international level (e.g. science assessments). The meeting will be inter-disciplinary and involve researchers from multiple CNRS (INSU, INEE, INSHS and INC) and other institutes. contacts : Kathy Law (LATMOS,; Jeroen Sonke (GET,; Roman Teisserenc (EcoLab,
