Universal features of hydrodynamical, optical and wave turbulence

On the theoretical front, the conference aims to contribute towards evolving a coherent story of turbulence described by the two most widely studied partial differential equations: the Navier-Stokes/Euler equations and the non-linear Schrödinger equation (and its variants). This will need the insights and information from the current experiments and at the same time will suggest possible new experiments. To ensure this, the conference intends to have a healthy mix of theorists, experimentalists and numerical simulation experts. Among the many fundamental issues, which will be covered in the conference, the focus will be on the following: • what studies of turbulence in optical and superfluid systems have in store; • singularities in viscous and inviscid three-dimensional flows; • the phenomenon of irreversibility; • bifurcations over turbulent background.
