Mathematical Analysis for Biology and Ecology

23-25 sept. 2019
Institut Elie Cartan de Lorraine - Nancy (France)

This conference will be dedicated to the mathematical analysis of deterministic and stochastic models from the life sciences. Our goal is to promote mathematics as a tool toward the understanding of biological phenomena, on various scales from the cell to the ecosystem: complex biological systems, self-propelled and collective motions, invasions in population dynamics, evolutionary genetics and adaptive biology... Our interests will be not only the analysis of time-tested models, but also the development of new models and their confrontation to experimental data in order to distinguish their purely mathematical features from biologically relevant aspects. This event will be an opportunity to discuss the analysis of deterministic models (ordinary and partial differential equations such as reaction-diffusion systems), but also stochastic (stochastic differential equations, random walks and individual based models) and multiscale (hydrodynamic limits and large deviations) approaches. This conference will gather international experts who will share their recent progresses on all these ongoing issues from mathematical biology.
