Summer School : PAHs in extreme environments

24-28 juin 2019
Université Paul sabatier - Amphi Einstein - Toulouse (France)

The scientific objective of this one week school is to provide students with key concepts and tools for the study of PAHs in space. This includes lectures, but a significant amount of time will be devoted to hands-on sessions in particular in quantum chemistry. The school will be hosted at Toulouse University. This summer school is a requirement of the H2020 Innovative Training Network (ITN) “Extensive and Ubiquitous Role of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) in Space“, in which University of Toulouse (IRAP and LCAR/LCPQ) is involved, together with 8 other beneficiaries and 6 partner organisations in Europe. The EUROPAH Network has the goal of providing a training and research environment uniquely equipped to uncover the role of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) in space. The school is compulsory for the 16 PhD students of the network, and follows on a first event organized in 2018 in Les Houches ( The school will be opened to students outside the network, and in total we expect to have 30-35 attendees, and about 10 professors for this school.
