Accretion and Outflows throughout the scales

Centre de Recherche Astrophysique de Lyon comprises two active groups working on accretion and outflows in different contexts: - the formation of stars and planets - microquasars and particle acceleration Scaling models provide strong indications that very similar physical processes are at work in both fields: 1) in the formation of stars and planets, possible source of life, 2) in the most energetic astrophysical machines, like microquasars and active galactic nuclei, responsible for the production of cosmic rays. Both of these topics are at the forefront of current astrophysics and science in general. Both groups are at the forefront of their fields. Both groups rely strongly on large scale numerical simulations performed at PSMN and the national centers. We thus have the unique opportunity to bring together two distinct communities which have, however, a strong overlap in their research: the physics and numerical simulation of accretion and outflows. This increases the visibility of the CPB, the simulation community, and the science place Lyon in general.
